Xicato Event

A marketing event for LED module company Xicato during a Professional Lighting Design Association conference in Madrid. Curated by Light Collective.

It comprised over a hundred helium-filled balloons - each carrying a battery-powered Xicato module and reflector.

All elements had to be carefully designed and specified to ensure the balloons maintained adequate bouyancy for the duration of the event, considering the rate at which Helium leaks through latex.

A competition to identify a small number of modules with special colour rendering properies was concluded when the modules revealed themselves by flashing after a set time in operation.

Visitors created and controlled the lighting for the event, then took their balloon and module away with them.
